If you’ve always wanted to know what JBL PartyBoost is, then you’ve come to the right place! Today we’ll tell you everything there is to know about the topic, i.e. what functions PartyBoost offers, which speakers it can be found in and much more.
JBL PartyBoost can do that
With JBL PartyBoost you can use multiple compatible speakers from JBL to play the same music on the speakers. This means that a single loudspeaker, in combination with many others, becomes a large loudspeaker.
If you use two speakers of the same model, it is possible to form a stereo pair from the two speakers. If there are more speakers, the system automatically switches to PartyBoost mode, where all speakers play the same sound.
You can use the function with compatible speakers by simultaneously pressing the PartyBoost button on the device.
Furthermore , the connection between the speakers can be adjusted using the newly renamed JBL Portable app ( iOS , Android ).
JBL’s 3rd standard
However, PartyBoost is not JBL’s first option for allowing multiple Bluetooth speakers to play the same music. It is actually the third attempt, but this is not good news.
The two predecessors of PartyBoost are called JBL Connect and JBL Connect + (Plus). You can find out more about this in our article.
Despite their similarity in name, the two versions of JBL Connect were not compatible with each other. What caused a stir with the introduction of JBL Connect + didn’t exactly cause much enthusiasm when the first PartyBoost models were introduced.
Although JBL PartyBoost does not offer any significant feature upgrades, it is not compatible with devices that use JBL Connect or Connect+ .
Speakers that have JBL PartyBoost installed cannot be used together with their predecessors. This applies, for example, to the JBL Charge 4 and 5, the JBL Xtreme 2 and 3 and the JBL Flip 4 and 5.
These speakers support PartyBoost
Since JBL PartyBoost is the latest standard, it is supported by JBL’s new speakers.
These are currently (as of May 2023):
- JBL Flip 5
- JBL Flip 6
- JBL Charge 5
- JBL Pulse 4
- JBL Pulse 5
- JBL Boombox 2
- JBL Boombox 3
- JBL Xtreme 3

Summarized
JBL PartyBoost is JBL’s latest standard for connecting Bluetooth speakers together. Speakers can be connected as a stereo pair or up to 100 speakers can play the same music in PartyBoost mode. Unfortunately, the standard is not backwards compatible.
So if you want to listen to stereo music or have a party where one speaker is no longer enough, you can do that with JBL PartyBoost.
