If you’ve always wanted to know what JBL PartyBoost is, then you’ve come to the right place! Today we’ll tell you everything there is to know about the subject, i.e. what functions PartyBoost offers, in which speakers it can be found and much more.
What can JBL PartyBoost?
With JBL PartyBoost, you can use multiple compatible speakers from JBL to play the same music on the speakers. Thus, a single speaker, in combination with many others, becomes one big speaker.
If you use two speakers of the same series, it is possible to form a stereo pair from the two speakers. If there are more speakers, the system automatically switches to PartyBoost mode, where all speakers play the same sound.
You can use the function with compatible speakers by pressing the PartyBoost button on the devices at the same time.
Furthermore, the connection between the speakers can be adjusted via the freshly renamed JBL Portable app (Apple).
JBLs 3rd standard
However, PartyBoost is not JBL’s first way to let multiple Bluetooth speakers play the same music. In fact, it is already the third attempt, however, this is not good news.
The two predecessors of PartyBoost are called JBL Connect and JBL Connect + (Plus).
The two versions of JBL Connect were not compatible with each other despite their closeness in name. What has already caused excitement with the introduction of JBL Connect +, but now unfortunately continues again.
Although JBL PartyBoost does not offer any significant feature upgrades, it is not compatible with devices that use JBL Connect or Connect+.
Speakers that have JBL PartyBoost installed can therefore not be used together with their predecessors. This applies to the JBL Charge 4 and 5, the JBL Xtreme 2 and 3, and the JBL Flip 4 and 5, for example.
These speakers support PartyBoost
Since JBL PartyBoost is the latest standard, it is supported by JBL’s new speakers.
Currently these are:
- JBL Flip 5
- JBL Charge 5
- JBL Pulse 4
- JBL Boombox 2

In summary
JBL PartyBoost is the latest standard from JBL to connect Bluetooth speakers together. Speakers can be connected as a stereo pair or up to 100 speakers can play the same music in PartyBoost mode. Unfortunately, the standard is not backward compatible.
