This article is about typical Metz televisions, problems and of course the appropriate solutions. Metz was a German premium brand that was known not to cause problems. Today they are still good TVs, but unfortunately the following problems keep popping up.
My Metz television switches itself off
If you have a Metz OLED TV that turns itself off, I have a simple and good solution for you. Normally, this involves the Metz television carrying out a refresh, which is normally carried out in standby. In many cases, the problem arises because the TV keeps turning off completely. Therefore, you should simply leave the television on in standby more often, in many cases the problem is then already solved.
Other solutions:
- In some cases, unfortunately, all players have to be switched on. HDMI, USB etc
- As of 2023, the problem should be completely resolved with a software update.
Problem with audio output via third-party devices
The problem with the audio output via third-party devices is in most cases due to an incorrect TV preset.
If you’re having trouble with your device’s audio, there may be an easy fix. It could be that the digital audio output is set to home theater even though your converter only supports stereo. In this case, you can solve the problem by opening your device’s sound menu and switching the digital audio output to stereo or PCM.
This step is usually quick and easy to perform and can often resolve the audio issue. However, it is important to note that not all devices have the same settings and options in the sound menu. If you are having trouble locating the settings or are unable to resolve the issue, you may want to contact the manufacturer or tech support for further assistance.
Overall, the problem with the sound is often easy to solve and it’s worth spending a few minutes checking the settings in the sound menu and adjusting them if necessary.
Internet connection problems
- Reboot router
- TV Neustraten
- If available on your model, connect a LAN cable
Before you start looking for other solutions, you should first check whether the connection between your TV and the router is working properly. Sometimes the problem is that the transmission speed is too slow. If you have an overall connection speed of less than 10 Mbit, this could be the reason for problems. There have also been cases where telecom routers have caused difficulties when watching TV while other devices such as laptops or cell phones are working fine. However, this should be over by now. My personal recommendation is to use an AVM Fritzbox, as I have had good experiences with it.
Another common problem is crashes while watching YouTube videos. It can happen that the commercials play but the actual movie crashes when launched. This is a YouTube specific issue and Metz is working to fix it. However, the HbbTV media libraries are usually stable.
Finally, it’s important to understand that while the Metz TV is a great device, it’s only good for limited online activities. Online access is mainly intended for accessing the HbbTV media libraries and the home network with music, films and photos. For most other online activities, a computer or cell phone with a decent browser and the ability to download drivers is better suited. Even if you connect a keyboard to your TV, there will still be compromises and limitations. It is important to accept that televisions and computers have different specialties and that due to cost reasons there will not be a perfect solution.
The TV shows no signal
In the best case, the problem is solved quickly. It is best to check the following things first.
- Make sure the TV is properly connected to the antenna.
- Check whether the correct reception mode (DVB-S; DVB-C; DVB-T; analogue) has been selected.
- Run a search on the TV set.
- If the search was not successful, reset your TV set to the “factory settings”.
